Baptism

Baptismal Preparation classes offer instruction about the Sacrament of Baptism and its meaning for parents and the Catholic church community. Classes will be held at 7 PM on Monday, July 10; and 6 PM on Monday, October 2.  All classes will be held in the library in the Religious Education Center.  Couples expecting the birth of a child are strongly encouraged to attend class before the birth of their baby. You must register for the class by calling the parish office at 236-7486.

Reconciliation

Reconciliation is offered each Saturday at 4:00 pm. (For First Reconciliation, see "First Communion" below.)

First Communion

Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation (also called Confession or Penance) and First Communion normally takes place in the second grade for children baptized in the Catholic Faith.  Essential for the preparation of First Communion is regular worship in Sunday Mass, participation in religious education, and a commitment on the part of the parents to the religious education of their children after the first reception of Communion.  A first grade religious education is normally required for the preparation of First Communion in the second grade.

Sacramental preparation includes regular religious education classes for children, and two parent and child preparation meetings for each of the Sacraments.

Older children (in grades 3 or higher) or children who are not currently enrolled in religious education classes are prepared with instruction appropriate to the needs of the child with the involvement of the parents.  If your child has missed some or all grades, there is a place for your child to begin sacramental preparation.  Contact  Crystal DeNeve for more information regarding your child or to enroll your child in religious education classes.

Confirmation

Students in the eighth grade and above may be eligible for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Contact  Crystal DeNeve for more information regarding your child or to enroll your child in religious education classes.

Marriage

Those wishing to be married at St. Mary’s should contact the parish office no less than six months prior to their anticipated wedding date, before any arrangements are finalized, as a period of preparation is required.

Fr. Reynolds, Deacon Bill Olson or Deacon Steve Witt are avaiable to meet with couples for marriage preparation.  Guidelines for Marriages at St. Mary’s Church may be picked up at the parish office.

Anointing of the Sick

Anyone seriously ill, facing major surgery, or in danger of death due to failing health may receive this sacrament of healing. It is not necessary or recommended to wait until the "hour of death."

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process by which people become members of the Catholic Church. The process is concerned with the total formation of the person: believing with the church community; praying with the church community; and serving with the church community. This gradual development culminates in the celebration of the initiation sacraments of baptism, confirmation, and the Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. For more information, please contact the Jay Deitrich in the parish office at 641-236-7486.
